AMUC Div 1 Preview:

Meraki (VIC)

By team captain

Coming in hot off a VMUC 2017 win, Meraki have their eyes on the prize.

Team name

Meraki

Give us a short history of your team

We started as a group of good friends from all around Australia and the world wanting to play good ultimate frisbee. We have played together in different divisions and teams but Meraki represents our true identity and we are planning to stick together and around for many more seasons to come. Victorian mixed regionals was our first tournament and win!

What are your goals for the tournament?
Bring it all in and finish as high as we can!

How would you sum up your team in 3 words?
Passion, love and creativity

Who should we be looking out for?
Look out for James Osmond, after winning Quidditch World Championships with Australia last year, he is ready to take over frisbee. Also, look out for Ayumi Sano, she brings in the Japanese style to the team.

Who are you most looking forward to playing?
The top teams in the country.

What do you think of the 'endzone decides' rules?
Didn't change much on how we formed our roster but it reinforced equity and values within the team. Respecting women as equals promotes a better team spirit, good vibes and is more fun to play.
If your team was stranded on a desert island and you could only take one other team from AMUC, which would it be and why?
Definitely Vanguards and Monstars will improve the party.
