AMUC Div 1 Preview:
VLS Lime (NSW)
VLS are taking a short break from recruiting every young Ultimate player in Sydney, to grace us with their presence at AMUC.
Give us a short history of your team
Although VLS is commonly mistaken for Vodka Lemon Soda, it actually stays for Vertical Launching System. A vertical launching system (VLS) is an advanced system for holding and firing missiles on mobile naval platforms, a metaphor which perfectly describe our team. Each vertical launch system consists of a number of cells (handlers), which can hold one or more missiles ready for firing (in the end-zone). Typically, each cell can hold a number of different types of missiles (depending on the offensive strategy), allowing the ship (the team) flexibility to load the best set (cut accordingly) for any given mission. Further, when new missiles are developed (new players), they are typically fitted to the existing vertical launch systems of that nation (division 1 or 2), allowing existing ships to use new types of missiles without expensive rework. When the command is given (at the beginning of the party), the captain missile flies straight up (to the bar) long enough to clear (skip) the cell (queue), and then turns on course (with all the drinks for the team).
If you're a returning team, who's in and who's out from last years (or previous years) side?
VLS is a flowing river, in constant movement. People come, and people go. You could not step twice into the same river. The only way to find out who is on board this season, is to come and watch us!
What are your goals for the tournament?
Get Ting to party hard without throwing up before 9pm and beat Kaf.
How would you sum up your team in 3 words?
Totally Tropical House
Who should we be looking out for?
We have many big names, it's hard to say who will shine the most. You should definitely be looking for Waldo, but also Wilma is someone to look for. You should definitely not pay much attention to a certain Alex Shepard (ex Dingo, now body builder), I heard is the worst Alex on the team. Definitely keep in mind this name: Emma Lothian. She is definitely gonna fire some missiles long enough to clear the cell and the ship.
What do you think of the 'endzone decides' rules?
I usually just call my girlfriend, not sure where to find other three girls to call nowadays. However I think it's great that we let one end-zone decide, we don't like to make choices, too much responsibilities. But we are 100 percent for equity and equality, we usually let the end-zones talk to each other and sort out flip and stuff. I should also add that Caroline does not approve Patriarchy. Because it's bad.
If your team was stranded on a desert island and you could only take one other team from AMUC, which would it be and why?
Whoever brings beers and music, my friend! + 0.2x(bant)
