By Rob Swan

Catch up on all the semi-finals action with Rob Swan's handy recap of Day 6 play. Can't wait for Women's semis and grand finals later today!

USA were too strong for Canada on the showcase field, maintaining their undefeated record and powering through to the final 15-8.

In a pool play rematch, Japan came up against Australia and were able to take an upwind break just before half to go up 8-6. Japan were able to stretch the lead over the second half, finishing 14-10.

Canada and Australia matched up in the Bronze, with the Bluebottles going out to an early lead before Canada equalised 2-2. Canada continued to chip away at the hometown team, before finishing strong at 15-8.

The last two games of pool play finally decided the semi final match ups. The incredible parity of this division, combined with the round robin draw, meant that the final two spots in semis were up for grabs until literally the last game of the day.

Japan, Colombia and Australia were all in a three way tie until the last game, where Colombia's win over Canada put them out in front. This left Japan and Australia tied, and Australia goes up because they had beat Japan on universe earlier in the tournament.

The semifinal matchups will be Australia v USA and Colombia v Canada. Both of these games are rematches, with USA and Colombia winning in Pool Play. Semis will be played in the morning, with the final in the afternoon

Australia met USA in one semi final, going down 6-1 to start and having to claw their way back into the game. They were unable to get within striking distance, despite a late Australian push, USA held out to win 15-9.

The other semi final was an exciting European matchup, with Italy facing down Germany once again. This was much less close than their previous universe point game, with Italy taking it away 15-7.

Germany met Australia in the afternoon in a rematch of the 2013 Bronze medal game, and their earlier power pool game. After trading to 2-2, Australia accelerated out to an 8-2 lead and Germany were unable to close the gap, with the Goannas holding out to win 12-8.

Best Watch

Women's Final

Easily the division where an upset seems the most likely, the Women's final will be the most exciting of the three. All three non-US women's teams will be hungry for victory against a US side that has shown weakness, especially against Japan. We cannot wait for this game later on today.
